"And he said, Take now thy son, thine only son Isaac, whom thou lovest, and get thee into the land of Moriah; and offer him there for a burnt offering upon one of the mountains which I will tell thee of. And Abraham rose up early in the morning, and saddled his ass, and took two of his young men with him, and Isaac his son, and clave the wood for the burnt offering, and rose up, and went unto the place of which God had told him." (Gen.22:2-3)

Br. Samuel Babu, Believers Brethren Assembly, (BBA), Majlis - Bahrain For the last few days, we have been relentlessly praying for Br. Samuel Babu, who suffered Cardiac Problems and was admitted in Salmaniya Medical Complex, Bahrain. It was well pleasing for our Lord to call HIS child to the Eternal Home, where there is no pain, no sorrow, no tears, no sickness and no death. He went to be with the LORD around 10:30 PM Bahrain Time today (Friday 23rd 2015). Let us uphold the grieving family members to the Throne of Grace. May the Lord bestow upon them heavenly Grace, Peace and strength and console them with the word of God.

WILL GOD BLESS MY DECEIT?

Jobin John Mathew, B.Th, U.A.E

Many years ago, a man conned his way into the orchestra of the emperor of China although he could not play a note. Whenever the group gathered, he made sure that he took time out and made himself available. Whenever they practiced, he was there with his flute. Whenever they performed, he would hold his flute against his lips, pretending to play, but not making a sound.

For his participation in this great orchestra, he received a modest salary and enjoyed a comfortable living – all this by not playing a single note. Then one day, the emperor requested a solo from each musician. The flutist got nervous. There wasn't enough time to learn the instrument. There wasn't enough time to ask for suggestions. There wasn't enough time even to panic. He pretended to be sick, but the royal physician wasn't fooled. He pretended to be busy and unavailable but the organizer wasn't impressed. He pretended to be in between his busy schedule but the emperor’s orders were adamant. On the day of his solo performance, the imposter took poison and killed himself. The explanation of his suicide led to the phrase that found its way into the English language: "He refused to face the music".

The cure for deceit is simply this: face the music. The cure for dishonesty is simply this: be honest. Tell the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth. Some of us are living in deceit. Some of us are walking in the shadows. Some of us are walking around as if nothing ever happened. Always remember this – The lies of Ananias and Sapphira resulted in them losing their lives. The deceit of Ananias and Sapphira resulted in death. Some of us have buried a marriage, parts of a conscience, and even parts of our faith – all because we won’t tell the truth.

Are you in a dilemma, wondering if you should tell the truth or not? The question to ask in such moment is this, Will God bless my deceit? Will he, who hates lies, bless a strategy built on lies? Will the Lord who loves truth, bless the business of falsehood? Will God honor the career of the manipulator? Will God come to the aid of the cheater? Will God bless my dishonesty? I don't think so.

Examine your heart. Ask yourself some tough questions? Are my relationships marked by candour? What about my workplace? Am I honest in my dealings? Am I a trustworthy student? A reliable worker? Do tell the truth .... always.

Why not start today? Don't wait for tomorrow. The ripple of today's lie is tomorrow's wave and next year's flood. Start today. Be just like Jesus. Tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth.
