"And he said, Take now thy son, thine only son Isaac, whom thou lovest, and get thee into the land of Moriah; and offer him there for a burnt offering upon one of the mountains which I will tell thee of. And Abraham rose up early in the morning, and saddled his ass, and took two of his young men with him, and Isaac his son, and clave the wood for the burnt offering, and rose up, and went unto the place of which God had told him." Br. Samuel Babu, Believers Brethren Assembly, (BBA), Majlis - Bahrain For the last few days, we have been relentlessly praying for Br. Samuel Babu, who suffered Cardiac Problems and was admitted in Salmaniya Medical Complex, Bahrain. It was well pleasing for our Lord to call HIS child to the Eternal Home, where there is no pain, no sorrow, no tears, no sickness and no death. He went to be with the LORD around 10:30 PM Bahrain Time today (Friday 23rd 2015). Let us uphold the grieving family members to the Throne of Grace. May the Lord bestow upon them heavenly Grace, Peace and strength and console them with the word of God.

Bro. Vinayadas Abraham, Bahrain

Jehovah’s Witnesses reject the deity of Jesus Christ. They strongly argue that there is only one God whose name is Jehovah, and by taking the name “Jehovah’s Witnesses” they proclaim that they are the true witnesses of Jehovah. The monotheist belief is acceptable to us, but the moment they reject the doctrine of Trinity and advocate an unscriptural teaching on the deity of Jesus Christ, they fall into their own pit of false teaching, as can be seen from the following:

“… the true Scriptures speak of God’s Son, the Word, as ‘a god.’ He is a ‘mighty god’, but not the Almighty God, who is Jehovah”(The Truth Shall Make You Free 1943, p.47).

From the above teaching it is clear that Jehovah’s Witnesses are not monotheist for they believe in a “big God” and a “small God”. By the above statement the J.Ws. contradict the clear teaching of the Bible, which says, “The LORD our God is one” (Deut. 6:4).

The Deity of Jesus Christ is one of the cornerstones of Christianity, and therefore has been attacked more vigorously throughout the ages and Satan has initiated a fresh attack on this vital doctrine under the cover of Jehovah’s Witnesses. There are many passages in the Scripture proving the Deity of Jesus Christ, some of which are considered below:

Isaiah 7:14

“Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel”

This verse undoubtedly refers to Lord Jesus Christ, and the name “Immanuel” means God with us. Since there is no other God but Jehovah by His own declaration (Isa. 43:10 & 11), Jesus Christ and Jehovah are of the same Substance in power and eternity, hence equal.

Isaiah 9:6

“For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.”

This verse is one of the most powerful verses in the Old Testament proving the Deity of Christ, but Jehovah’s Witnesses are making a vain attempt to take away the Deity of Jesus Christ clearly ascribed here. Jehovah’s Witnesses twist this verse by claiming that Christ is a ‘mighty god’, but not the Almighty God (Jehovah). If the rendition “mighty God” is considered as a “small god” different from Jehovah, then in the following passages Jehovah is referred to as “mighty God” - Jeremiah 32:18, Deut 10:17, and Neh. 9:32. Can Jehovah’s Witnesses clarify who is referred to in these verses, using their ‘principle of interpretation’?

Besides, Jehovah’s Witnesses must explain the term “Eternal Father”. Unless they accept Jesus Christ as God, Jehovah’s Witnesses must become either idolaters or polytheists. Both positions are condemned in the Word of God.

John 1:1

“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”

Jehovah’s Witnesses have translated the above verse in their New World Translation of the Holy Scriptures as “the Word was a god”. Greek Scholars reject this erroneous interpretation of the Watchtower Society, as follows:

“In fact, the late New Testament Greek Scholar, Colwell, formulated a rule which clearly states that a definite predicate nominative (in this case, Theos – God) never takes an article when it precedes the verb (was) as we find in John 1:1. It is therefore easy to see that no article is needed for Theos (God), and to translate it “a god” is both incorrect grammar and poor Greek….. Christ, then, if He is the Word “made flesh” (John 1:14) can be no one else except God unless the Greek text and consequently God’s Word be denied” (The Kingdom of the Cults by Walter Martin, 1985, p.85)

Clearly Jehovah’s Witnesses have tampered with the Word of God violating our Lord’s warning and without following the rules of translation. This depraved act is a vain attempt of Jehovah’s Witnesses to bring forth their erroneous teachings. Furthermore, the following Questions and Biblical Answers deserve a careful study:

It is clear from the above table that the Lord Jesus Christ has the same attributes of Jehovah. Jehovah’s Witnesses cannot answer the above questions without twisting the Word of God, and by doing so they end up having two “Gods” which is contrary to the clear teachings of the Bible and they would stand on Divine trial for this grave blasphemy!

Only the Doctrine of “Trinity in Unity” can answer the attributes of God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit correctly and satisfactorily.
