"And he said, Take now thy son, thine only son Isaac, whom thou lovest, and get thee into the land of Moriah; and offer him there for a burnt offering upon one of the mountains which I will tell thee of. And Abraham rose up early in the morning, and saddled his ass, and took two of his young men with him, and Isaac his son, and clave the wood for the burnt offering, and rose up, and went unto the place of which God had told him." Br. Samuel Babu, Believers Brethren Assembly, (BBA), Majlis - Bahrain For the last few days, we have been relentlessly praying for Br. Samuel Babu, who suffered Cardiac Problems and was admitted in Salmaniya Medical Complex, Bahrain. It was well pleasing for our Lord to call HIS child to the Eternal Home, where there is no pain, no sorrow, no tears, no sickness and no death. He went to be with the LORD around 10:30 PM Bahrain Time today (Friday 23rd 2015). Let us uphold the grieving family members to the Throne of Grace. May the Lord bestow upon them heavenly Grace, Peace and strength and console them with the word of God.

SISTERS' CORNER

ESTHER SAVES HER PEOPLE; ARE WE?

Sis. Hephzibah Joshi, Bahrain

Hadassah had a very pretty figure and face; no wonder! Hadassah was also called Esther (Est.2:7). Esther, the daughter of Abigail?, and Mordecai was her uncle who adopted Esther as his own daughter when her parents were died (Est.2:7). Esther was very obedient to Mordecai in many ways.

I hope every one of us still remembers the story of Esther. Women, Yes we are women, women of faith, united in God’s love, sisters in Grace, looking to Jesus, to lead us each day. So, with that faith I would like to share a few things that how Esther can be a role model in our day today lives.

Esther was taken to the palace in Susa with the other girls and was put under the care of Hegai. Esther pleased Hegai, and he also liked her very much. She was taken to the best part of the women’s quarters and her 12 months of beauty treatments and special foods were given to her along with the seven servant girls chosen from the kings palace(Est. 2:8,9), (this treatments had to be done before she was taken to the king). Two steps of treatment were given. The first step took six months to complete in which she was treated with oil and myrrh, again another six months as the second step with the perfumes and cosmetics(Est.2:12).

Let’s just imagine how a woman or a girl needs to get ready before she is taken to the king. Now think about ourselves, how much more we need to prepare to meet our Savior’s face. Not only about us but also our people or our family who are behind us. We should definitely take steps to prepare ourselves and make us fit and more beautiful to stand in His presence.

The king was pleased with Esther than any other girls. So, he put a royal crown on her head and made her queen in place of Vasthi (Est.2:17). As believers, we suppose to be pleased than anybody else before our Savior. How can we please our king? Yes, there are many ways by which we can please Him. Here are some as follow,

1. We need to suffer for righteousness (I Pet.3:14)

2. Do not hate one another (Tit.3:3)

3. Rejoice in the Lord always (Phili.4:4)

The very fist thing Esther did after the appointment was that she saved the life of the king XERXES with the help of Mordecai who discovered the evil plan of king’s own officers Bigthana and Teresh (Est.2:22). Esther was able to save her king from certain death. How many of us have tried to save at least one soul in our family or in the place where we work for or at least tried to do a favour for someone who really needs help? Are we faithful to our king?

  1. Be thou an example of the believers (I Tim 4:12).
  2. Show yourselves a pattern of good works in all things (Tit.2:7).

When the king’s kingdom was peaceful a strange storm came in the manner of Haman who planned to destroy and completely wipe out all the Jewish people including the children from the country, entirely. It was to happen on a single day without the knowledge of the king (Est.3:1-15).

Many times, we may also be put into troubles without our knowledge or expectations. But still we are supposed to be calm and act according to the Holy Spirit who guides us.

1.      God is able to save (Heb.7:25).

2.      God is able to succor them that are tempted (Heb.2:18).

3.      God is able to deliver us from the burning fire (Dan.3:25).

Through Mordecai, Esther came to know about the confusion in the city of Susa. Mordecai ordered Esther to go into the king’s presence to beg for mercy and to plead with for her people. But it was against the law to go to the king’s presence without his call for thirty days. Since Esther was obedient to Mordecai, she was even ready to give up her life for the sake of Jewish people (Est.4:1-7).

How much are we obedient to our elders? Yes we are in need to look into our own hearts and justify ourselves that how much we are obedient towards our Master and elders. Whatever may be our positions, are we able to submit ourselves to our elders who really guide us in many ways or the Holy Spirit who leads us throughout. We need to verify ourselves.

1.      Not only to believe but also to suffer for His sake (Phi.1:29).

2.      Obey and serve Him then you will spend your days in prosperity and pleasures (Job.36:11).

3.      Obey them that rule over you (Heb.13:17).

The king was pleased when he saw Queen Esther standing in the courtyard. And also he agreed to come to a banquet with Haman which she prepared for him (Est.5:4). Haman became very angry with Mordecai, because he did not bow down before him. Zeresh the wife of Haman gave an idea to kill Mordecai in which he was pleased and ordered the platform to be built (Est.5:9-14).

Dear believers, how cruel Haman was towards Mordecai!!! The same way, even Satan is planning to destroy us from the Mighty ways of righteousness. But still do not lose our hope on Christ. We need to cry out for protection. Our Savior is faithful and just to protect us from all evil. Our prayers must be like this, Lord, rescue us from evil people; protect me from cruel people, who plan to trip me up (Ps.140)

Perhaps you who read these words find yourselves almost crushed by the circumstances which you are facing now. You wonder how much more you can stand. But do not despair! God’s grace is sufficient for you and will enable you to rise above your trials. Let this be your confidence. “Can anything separate us love Christ has for us? Can troubles or sufferings or hunger or nakedness or danger or violent death…?? But in all these things we have full victory through God who showed his love for us”.

The king was again pleased by Esther in the banquet and ready to save the Jewish people from the wicked hands of Haman. And then the king commanded; “hang Haman” on the platform which he had prepared for Mordecai. Then the king was not so angry anymore (Est.7:1-10).

Dear friends do not be worried about anything. Because God is there for you with His eternal love that never fades. Remember the words “as you saw, so you reap”. The one who plans wickedly against others will be destroyed himself with his own plan.

1.      Be bold in Christ (Phi.1:4).

2.      Trust in the Lord and be of good comfort (Phi.2:19).

Queen Esther was given everything that Haman left when he was killed. Then she put Mordecai in charge of everything Haman left. Again Esther fell at the king’s feet and begged him to stop the evil plans that Haman planned against the Jews (Est.8:1-3). And he agreed what she asked for. It was the time of happiness, joy, and honor for Jewish people living in 127states that reaches from INDIA to CUSH. The Jewish people were having feasts and celebrations everywhere (Est.8:16-17).

This poor girl Esther was raised to the position of Queen only because, she obeyed, believed, and trusted in the Lord. Dear sisters what do you consider as “top priority” in your lives? This is a big question, may be you need some time to think about it. But I have already decided to think seriously about my priorities and the priorities of our growing ministries. The secret is establishing personal priorities…….

Set a firm foundation- be biblical

Apply the truth of the Scriptures- be authentic

Develop a compassionate attitude- by gracious

Stay current, always up to date- be relevant

  1. If you obey God will set you high above all nations (Deu.28:1).
  2. We should have boldness and confidence in the Lord (Eph.3:12).
  3. Submit yourselves to one who helps you (I Cor.16:16).
  4. Submit yourselves in the fear of God (Eph.5:21).
  5. Your blessings are already reserved for you in heaven (I Pet.1:4).

As we begin to do this, Christianity becomes something that is absorbed, not just worn. It is more than believed! It is incarnated; it is God’s Truth which is incarnated. It happened in the first century and the twentieth even in an aimless world like ours.

May the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ be glorified for ever and ever. Amen!!!
