FOOT PRINTS & MISSION FIELDS
A DETERMINATION TO SERVE HIM….
Bro. P. Joseph Raju
God granted us an exciting trip to India after 4 years. We are anxious to share some of our experiences with you for prayer and consideration.
Our trip took us via Abu Dhabi and Dubai. A beloved brother whom we never met in our lives took care of all our needs while we were there. We thank God for his hospitality and love for God's people. While we were there, he shared us with an exciting piece of news. The Government of United Arab Emirates (UAE) granted permission to the local assembly there to build a church building. The cost of building may exceed 8 million Dirhams which is beyond their ability. This is an unprecedented opportunity for the Gulf brethren. What an opportunity for the believers around the world to join hands with them and finish it in a record time. Let us do it for the glory of God.
My heart sunk when I saw the progress of the Suviseshakan Balasangam camp in Puthenkavu which started several years ago. My beloved brethren, if you see this email, kindly send a generous gift for the SBS camp to finish this project. This is a great investment for the children of India. None of the rumours or allegations you heard in the past should stop you from extending your hands for this great ministry in India.
Bro. M.V. Babu graciously took me to Kallissery Brethren Bible School. It was a great encouragement to several students from North and Northeast part of India who are being trained here for the full-time ministry. Bro. Babu and other leaders are doing a great job in training these young people. Please lend your prayer and support for the day to day needs of this Bible School.
My heart was overwhelmed with gratefulness and excitement when I saw the new building of the Brethren Bible Institute (BBI) Pathanamthitta. This is one of the best buildings brethren in Kerala ever built for a ministry. I have taken some pictures and I will be happy to email it to anyone who asks for it. The building can be expanded for all future needs. I encourage every brother visiting Kerala, to take a few hours and visit this new Bible School. The BBI leaders are very grateful to all believers who gave lavishly for the construction. However they need our immediate support to furnish the building so that the classes can start very soon from there. Those who are in USA and Canada can contact Gospel Missions of India for more information and also to know where to send the funds.
I took a day to visit Thiruvalla Medical Mission, especially to visit few of the Nursing students who are supported by the GMI donors. The recent incidents really crowded and clouded my mind as I entered the hospital but I left there with a deep impression and thanked God. Despite the past upheavals, the hospital is running well under the new leadership who are dedicated and knowledgeable in what they are doing. I felt like for the first time in the TMM hospital history, we have a strong leadership. They deserve our support and prayer. Right now they are building a four-storey spacious building which can be expanded to eight storeys. Whenever it is done, it will substantially improve the services to the patients; bring new doctors, and open new revenues. It will drastically change the image and impression of TMM hospital. We envy other growing hospitals nearby.
Brethren, this is our chance to do something to minister to the suffering people and serve the risen Saviour. Dear doctors and nurses, who are visiting India, take a day and visit the TMM hospital, your heart will be thrilled to see the opportunities to serve. From the hospital I went to visit the new BSc Nursing College. This is another monument of success for the brethren people in India. It is truly a beautiful college at a beautiful site. The college is looking for sponsors for the students, especially those who are studying there from poor backgrounds. Even a small amount will help the students and help the college. This is yet another great opportunity to serve the Lord and His people.
Bro. Roy T. Daniel who is involved with many ministries, especially visiting evangelists and their families across India came from Bangalore to meet with me per my request and updated me with regard to some of the ongoing needs among our evangelists. One of the important needs he mentioned among the evangelists is the education of their children. Many of our evangelists are struggling to send their children to higher education, and some even to buy the necessary text books or pay the tuition. Brethren, very easily we can share their pain and burden by sharing a small amount. Roy has established an education fund to help these children. Would you kindly help?
Roy also updated the progress of Dr. Charles Ryrie's Study Bible in Hindi, the printing of it is nearly completed in Japan and 10,000 copies of it will be ready for distribution in India very soon. I saw a copy of it and it is superb; another great contribution for the Gospel work in India. Believers those who have the ability to buy a few copies should buy and distribute to those who cannot afford to buy one. For more details, please contact Roy.
It is always a joy to visit Bro. Johnson C. Philip as he thrills my heart with new ideas and different challenges. This time he expressed the need to start a Hindi magazine to address the spiritual needs among the Hindi speaking believers in India. The immediate need is to establish a faithful and committed leadership among the Hindi speaking brethren who can undertake this important task of compiling the contents and printing it. Bro. Shalu T. Ninan may undertake this task and let us pray for both of them, and give full support when they do.
I met so many other leaders of our ministries in India. They all have deep burden for India. The persecution of believers and the opposition to the Gospel has created a new urgency in the hearts of our leaders and believers in India. It warmed my heart and I returned to States with a new determination to serve the Lord along with my secular job.
The news from Orissa and Bombay demands that our hearts unite to pray more earnestly for India and give lavishly for the Gospel work. There is no other way we as believers can respond to these tragedies.
May God richly bless you and your families.
