"And he said, Take now thy son, thine only son Isaac, whom thou lovest, and get thee into the land of Moriah; and offer him there for a burnt offering upon one of the mountains which I will tell thee of. And Abraham rose up early in the morning, and saddled his ass, and took two of his young men with him, and Isaac his son, and clave the wood for the burnt offering, and rose up, and went unto the place of which God had told him." (Gen.22:2-3)

Br. Samuel Babu, Believers Brethren Assembly, (BBA), Majlis - Bahrain For the last few days, we have been relentlessly praying for Br. Samuel Babu, who suffered Cardiac Problems and was admitted in Salmaniya Medical Complex, Bahrain. It was well pleasing for our Lord to call HIS child to the Eternal Home, where there is no pain, no sorrow, no tears, no sickness and no death. He went to be with the LORD around 10:30 PM Bahrain Time today (Friday 23rd 2015). Let us uphold the grieving family members to the Throne of Grace. May the Lord bestow upon them heavenly Grace, Peace and strength and console them with the word of God.

SERMON OUTLINES

Simeon : A man of vision (Lk.2:25-32)

Godly P.S., Bahrain

Introduction

*Different Simeons in the Bible mentioned

1). One of the sons of Jacob, 2). One of the Tribes of Israel, 3). Ancestor of Jesus (Lk. 3:30), 4). Simeon the priest (Lk.2:25-32), 5). A disciple at Antioch (Acts 13:1-2)

            * Simeon and Simon are different

            * Meaning of the word Simeon is ‘God Hears’

            * Nothing is given about his family background, tradition, etc

            * A dedicated priest by profession

            * He is noteworthy person, why? How could he a man of vision?

1. He was Just & Devote (v.25)

Just – Dikaios – Righteous, one’s right standing before God

            Eg. 1). Noah Gen.7:1, 2).Zechariah & Family Lk.1:6

Devote – Pious – One’s obedience to the Lord’s word

Result – one who was respected by the people and honored by the Lord

2. He was waiting for the consolation of Israel (v.25)

Consolation of Israel is a prophetic theme

Wishing the goodness for our own people is something great!

            It was Nehemiah’s attitude

            Today’s Christians forget it

3. He was a man with Holy Spirit (v.25)

Luke speaks more about the work of Holy Spirit other than three gospel writers

The work of Holy Spirit in the O.T. was for time to time and a mission after another

Holy Spirit was in Him to testify and witness the coming of Lord Jesus to the Israel

A man who witness his master, for which the Spirit of Lord was in Him

4. He was a man of Vision (V.26)

Vision of a unique Saviour of the world

Believers of all ages had such a vision

Abraham, Issac, Jacob, Moses, Israel: A promise land

People of Israel            : A Messiah

N.T. Believers              : Second coming of Jesus Christ

We must be conscious about our vision, that of those things above

5. He was departed in Peace V.29

How could he depart in peace?

Having the knowledge of the light of Gentiles

Having the knowledge of the glory of Israel

Finally, he sums up as knowing the purposeful birth of Jesus Christ

Let us examine our selves comparing the life styles of this man of vision.
